Description
This is truly a rare and beautiful radio. It has been in my personal collection for many years. I final got around to restoring it. I then, covered it with a blanket and have never put it out on display. I have decided I would try to sell it if I can get my price. I have too many things I can not put on display for appreciation. I have been in the antique radio restoration business for 20 years. I have been a collector for more that 35 years. I need to downsize and am making some hard choices. I have always loved Stromberg-Carlson radios. They made very high quality radios in the 1930's. This model has always been one of my favorites. The chassis is model 230. I aquired this from the family of the original owner. It was in very good condition except the finish was dull and flaking. The dial scale was also faded and in need of replacement. There was no veneer trouble and the mirror was/is in great shape. This is a very high quality restoration. We even refinished the inside and under the base. This is a wonderful example of one of these gorgeous radios. We stripped the cabinet, paste filled the grain, sanded the filler, sealed, shaded and built up the finish with gun sprayed laquer. We wet sand between coats and gave it a final rub and polish. The grade and quality of veneer is outstanding on this set. Much of it is burl, book matched, walnut. I can't make the pictures look as nice as the set looks in person. The chassis has been completely restored. I have replaced all of the paper and wax capacitors, most of the resistors and some of the tubes. I also put a reproduction dial scale in it. The tuning eye is a NOS tube. I calibrated and aligned the IF's and wave bands. I also installed a fuse block internally. The radio measures 22 inches tall, 27 inches wide and 21.5 inches deep. The radio plays very well. It has great tone. The speaker is in excellent condition and original. Please ask questions. If you would like to talk to me, I can be reached at: 715-220-3499. I am always happy to answer. I can crate and ship this radio or can bring it to the shipping store of your choice.
