Not only do all of the parts move as they are supposed to, this machine actually sews. Proven working machines on Ebay sell for about $250.00 more than machines that are not proven to be working. If a 29-4 is in working condition, anyone can make it sew. Our sewing sample that will be left in the machine is our proof that the machine is sewing. It will also show you how the machine is threaded. The sewing sample is two pieces of old leather, and you can see the nice even stitches that can be sewn with this machine. This machine comes with a manual and a threader . Examine the pictures carefully and you can see that it was well taken care of. What appears to be rust is actually tannin from the leather it was used to sew. This machine may be inspected by you in our store in Salem, Ohio 44460 prior to the sale. For those of you that are unfamiliar with the 29-4, it had the longest manufacturing run of any sewing machine in history (about 40 years in production). A unique feature of this machine is the ability to change the direction of sewing by moving the sewing foot direction with the thumb handles. You could sew a square patch on a boot without removing the boot from the sewing bed. Because of this long manufacturing run, and because it is still being widely used, repair parts are still available on the internet under Singer29-4. Most of these parts can be also be used on the 29 k. Although I personally sewed the sewing this machine, it is sold as is, without the right of return.
