Description
This auction is for a S-cientest antique safe manufactured by The Safe-Cabinet Co. of Marietta, Ohio. It features a "YALE" combination dial lock and is excellent working condition. The combination, of course, is included. There are three brass or metal labels on the safe. The original brass label at the top reads: "S-cientist, Trade "B" Mark, The Safe Cabinet Co. Marietta, Oh, USA." Just above the combination lock the metal label reads: "Underwriter Laboratories, Inspected Safe Class B, No. S-16413." An oval label at top of one side reads: "Koltanbar 1200."The safe measures 5'10"H x 3'3"W x 2'4"D. It is extremely heavy and has 4 very strong caster wheels for easier moving. The space inside measures 4'9"H x 2'7"W x 18.5"D. There are 4 adjustable shelves. Along the right side is a vertical metal trim piece fastened by screws which keeps the shelves in place. By removing the trim piece you can pull the shelves out and then reposition them. Condition: The tan painted exterior has chips in the finish and also chips on the inside shelves and interior walls. A couple of the shelves are bowed or bent a bit, but could possibly be straightened out. As mentioned the combination dial lock works perfectly and the doors open and close and latch properly. Nice and reliable collectible safe! Please ask questions more than 24 hours before the auction ends so there is adequate time to provide a comprehensive response.
