Description
The French Croix de GuerreUp for auction today is a set of 5 authentic signed documents from WWI US ARMY Signed by CH Bridges Major General "The Adjutant General" 1914-1920'sorder No. 13.324 "D", le 8 Fervier 1919, G.Q.G. Armees Francaises de la l'Estand a pair of WW1 Bushnelle Binoculars belonging to Roy Lee Sturdy.All are in near perfect condition, no tears mostly off-white to white in excellent condition! All are addressed to Roy Lee Sturdy. The first second third and fourth photos are of "The French Croix de Guerre" awarded to Studer on June 27th 1928 for his service in the Regular Army of the USA. 1914-1919. Signed by CH Bridges Major General "The Adjutant General" and noterized. Notory dated Feb 1919 The French Croix de Guerre was instituted on 8 April 1915 by the French Government to recognize acts of bravery in the face of the enemy specifically mentioned in dispatches. Open to soldiers, sailors and airmen of all ranks, and of any Allied army, various types of Croix de Guerre were available: bronze (awarded by the army), silver (awarded by a division), silver-gilt (awarded by a corps), silver star (awarded by a division) and bronze star (awarded by a regiment or brigade). Further acts of bravery resulted in the award of additional medal insignia worn on the ribbon of the medal; the ribbon being green ribbed with seven red stripes. Recipients of five bronze insignia were automatically entitled to a silver medal. Recipients of the Legion d'Honneur and Medaille Militaire were automatically eligible to receive the Croix de Guerre. Foreign nationals were similarly eligible to receive the Croix de Guerre, as were individual units. The medal took the form of a cross surmounted by crossed swords, the centrepiece bearing the head of the French Republic. The reverse of the medal bore one of the following dates: '1914-1915', '1914-1916', '1914-1917' or '1914-1918'. The Croix de Guerre was reinstituted in 1939 with the onset of the Second World War.Next is the cover letter sent by the War Department dated August 29th 1929 addressed to Roy Sturdy for his efforts and courage 1919The next item is an award giving to Roy Sturdy from the United staes of America moving him up in rank from sargent to Corperal and signed by The Colonel of the 17th field Artillery M. Clasky dated 1917.The Dark photoes are a faxemile notorized copy of the Roy Lee Sturdy's record stateing his birth as July 28th 1898along with recod of his sisters and brothers. Dated 1950 Last are the pair of authentic WW1 Bushnell Binoculars belonging to Roy, his name still scratched into the paint!This is a real find and a very important piece of history that should be charished over and over for years to come.Please god let some one buy this before Christmas, I beg you! Just me and my two boys ages 10 and 13. I have MS and cant work.
