Description
Real Human Skull-- disarticulated 1 set of ossicles (inner ear bones) For Medical Education Only I am a 4th year medical student, and I have been funding my education by working as a professor of anatomy.  Unfortunately, tuition is coming due again, and I am forced to put one of my 'teaching assistants' up for sale.  He is an Asian male, and has been disarticulated as the photos show.  In addition to the amazing details that can be appreciated by his disarticulation, he has some very interesting pathology.  His frontal bone shows signs both of healed trauma, and of a severe frontal sinus infection.  His mandible has very deep muscle attachment markings-- much deeper that are typically found. The disarticulation used manual techniques (as opposed to the use of instrumentation) which have revealed exquisite features, such as the intricate suture lines, the delicate grooves of the meningeal vessels, and the granular foveolae (for the arachnoid granulations) that are never fully replicated in even the finest casts of human bone.  The ossicles-- the malleus, incus, and stapes ('hammer', 'anvil', and stirrup') are the 3 smallest bones of the human body, and it is amazing to actually be able to hold them in your palm-- they never fail to ilicit an audible intake of breath from students when they are revealed. Most of the skull is in wonderful condition-- however, there are 3 exceptions:  the occipital has been removed so as to reveal the sphenoidal sinus, but has been fractured and repaired (please see photo); 1 styloid process is intact, but the other has been broken, and; most of the teeth have been lost post mortem. I have been transporting the skull cushioned in foam, and in a wooden Adam Rouilly box along side with my other 'assistant'-- a half skeleton which may be coming up for auction in the near future.  However, as I need to keep the box, I am including a sturdy aluminum 'zero' case by Halliburton (stylish, yet functional!). It is very difficult for me to part with my assistant, but he is kind enough to do me this last favor of helping to fund my last year of 'nobel poverty'(!) I am happy to answer any questions that you might have, and please see my upcoming auction items-- everything from vintage human pathology slides, to contemporary medical texts. Thank you for looking, and all the best!   John p.s.  International bidders-- please verify the legality of importing an item such as this.  International buyers pay only the actual international shipping costs-- please inquire for your specific rate.... jt
