Its patent date is on the bottom: Aug. 24, 1887.It was made as a promotional piece for J.S. Round & Co. Jewelers, Boston, Worcester, Hartford, Portland. Odd thing is, when I look up this company all I find is an old book publisher by that name...Interesting to note that the word "jewelers" is spelled "jewellers," the British way.This bank does not have it's key, but can be taken apart by turning the center bolt on the bottom. When I took it apart I found an envelope inside with the name Terry on it that had 2 baby teeth in it! Very creepy - I am going to toss them out!This bank has some nice decoration.
