' Description     Meteorite * MORASKO * IAB - MG THE EXCEPTIONAL SPECIMEN  A long time ago, approximetely 3000 years B.C. , an iron asteroid crashed into the earth, on today’s Polish territory.It exploded in the air and broke into many pieces. The biggest of them caused creation of at least 8 impact craters. The first iron meteorite – 77,5 kg - was discovered in Morasko Forest in 1914 while digging trenches by soldiers. Later on, in the years 1936, 1956, 1992 and 2004 more massive speciments of Morasko meteorite were found. This meteorite is classified as the octahedrite IAB-MG. I have to add that because of the fact that this meteorite was discovered over 90 years ago, it is quite difficult to find new speciments.
