Solid old iv scabbard & hilt features outstanding carving of birds on one side, each bird is inlaid with a gold eye and silver pupil in minute detail. The iv handle is fixed with a single iv pin in the Japanese style and the pommel features a bird carved in silver. The reverse side of the sheath sports a small silver frog crouching beneath a leaf.
