- MPT-Ti Mission Knives And Tools Titanium 12" scuba tactical knife - Multi Purpose Tactical Titanium knife - Mission manufactured the first production run of the new Multi Purpose Tactical knife, the MPT. The new knife was designed with the input and suggestions of U.S. Marine Recon units, units of the Army's Special Operations Command, and various United States Special Operations personnel. The MPT has been field tested, with all comments and suggestions coming directly back to Mission. This returned data us used to see how we can further improve the knife's various features and handling. This new knife was created from the desires and needs of multiple military units which wanted a light weight, high strength, non-magnetic, non-corrosive tool - a titanium bladed knife - with a more compact and thinner silhouette, and with a "higher speed & lower drag coefficient" than Mission's U.S. Navy MPK. Mission has responded to these requests by producing the MPT. - The blade of the MPT has a distinctive false edge, which can be readily sharpened as the user chooses. Note the grooved section on the blade's spine, which gives a better non-slip surface when applying pressure to the blade with the thumb. Mission Knives MPTAlso notice the deep choil which allows the user to safely place a forefinger in front of the lower guard for a better grip when using the knife for fine or delicate cutting. - The MPTs ergonomic hilt was specifically designed to feel comfortable in either hand, and, at the same time, can easily be shifted into any aggressive grip style needed to meet any challenge. Notice the angled thumb ramp that naturally places the thumb in a comfortable andblade controlling position. The parrot's beak shaped butt of the hilt allows the user maximum purchase when using the blade in either the standard (hammer) grip, fencer's (sideways) grip, or ice-pick (reverse) grip. Complementing the hilt is the large integral guard, which ensures that the user's hand will consistently stay on the hilt and not slip forward onto the blade. The MPT has gone into immediate military service exactly as it was produced, and Mission will continue to work with the using units to perfect our product. - The sheath is in the process of being modified to add external locking slots. Mission is also modifying the hilt by adding non-slip grooves such as those shown in the MPK - for greater slip control while handling. - The Mission MPT-TI is Non Magnetic per MIL-M-19595 and has a tensile strength of 225,000 PSI min. It is immune to corrosion in sea water and all natural environments. It has a Rockwell rating of RC 45 minimum.
