Description
I believe this to be a fossilized bone from one very large animal.  Shape strongly resembles pelvis or possibly shoulder.  Bone is fused to base of sedimentary formation which has been eroded leaving the the bone to rest upon what I will refer to as the pedestal.  Pictures have been taken in full sun, shade, wet and dry. This piece was purchased at an estate sale.  A survivor of the family reported to me that the rock was brought home in 1980.  His father found it on a fishing trip on the Walnut River somewhere south and east of Wichita, Kansas.  Upon the discovery of the rock the man covered the rock with brush since he was with his wife and the 200+ pounds was too much for the two of them.  Later in the week he returned with a son to retrieve and place the rock in the back yard.  I am not sure if there is a first-hand witness to the location is alive.   I am starting this auction at $10,000 or best offer for thirty days.  I confess this is somewhat of a fishing expedition.  I have no expertise in this arena and will value any and all opinions.  If I accept your offer a $200 non-refundable earnest payment is to be made within three days of auction's end.   Balance to be paid with secured bank draft when you pick it up. This speciman is available for your personal inspection prior to final payment.  If you decide upon inspection to pass on the transaction your earnest monies will not be returned.  I fully appreciate interested parties concerns of the authenticity of this speciman and can appreciate caution.  If you would like any other pictures of a specific area I will do my best to fulfill your request.  No shipping, if you're going to shell out this much you'll want to see it first anyway.  Weighs over 200 pounds. Both ends appear to have brokenLichen and green moss cover most of upper surfaces of piece.Showing the area of fusion.Color variations in pedestal are probably other fossil formations.
