The Scallion was one of the assisted openers that launched this generation of folders. Ken Onion's clever opening technique was used on the first production knives with the assisted opening feature. The damascus steel blade model is remarkable with alternating black and silver layers.The Scallion - Designed by Ken Onion. Manufactured by Kershaw Knives in Oregon, USA. This Scallion drop point blade is of multi layered damascus steel with a hollow grind. Stock thickness is 0.090" and blade length is just under 2 3/8 inches. Closed length is 3-1/2". Weight is 3 oz. The index trigger serves both as an ambidextrous opening aid and as a finger guard when the knife is open. With a simple push on the index trigger, the closed knife quickly springs open using The Ken Onion Speed Safe torsion bar technology to propel the blade to an open and locked position. The dual thumb studs serve as the positive stop for the blade. The notched thumb ramp of the blade provides a secure placement for the index finger or thumb to rest on during use.
