Description
ANOTHER RARITY FROM MY PERSONAL COLLECTION... From time to time, I have decided to choose a few selected rarities from my own personal collection to offer to other serious collectors.  Sometimes...it's just time to move 'em out to others who would relish and treasure them as I have for these many years. Here is one such item I am offering...this one from the New York (NY) campaign of Rep. Ralph Gwinn, R, during the 1952 or 1956 re-election run with President Dwight Eisenhower leading the ticket along with Vice-President Richard Nixon.  I HAVE ONLY SEEN 3 OF THESE IN 28 YEARS OF COLLECTING LOCALS/COATTAILS/PRE-PRESIDENTIAL ITEMS and this is the FINEST CONDITION EXAMPLE I have seen.  TRULY A CENTERPIECE ITEM--most likely one of the rarest IKE pins to boot with high desirability and value.  A little bio info: GWINN, Ralph Waldo, a Representative from New York; born in Noblesville, Hamilton County, Ind., March 29, 1884; attended the public schools and the preparatory school of Taylor University, Upland, Ind.; was graduated from DePauw University, Greencastle, Ind., in 1905 and from the law school of Columbia University, New York City, in 1908; was admitted to the bar in 1908 and commenced practice in New York City; during the First World War served as special counsel for the War Shipping Board and as a special representative of the Secretary of War in the European Theater; engaged in agricultural pursuits at Pawling, N.Y., in 1928; member and president of the board of education, Bronxville, N.Y., 1920-1930; trustee of DePauw University, 1923-1962 and of Asheville (N.C.) School for Boys, 1930-1962; author of numerous articles on agriculture and religious education; elected as a Republican to the Seventy-ninth and to the six succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1945-January 3, 1959); was not a candidate for renomination in 1958; retired to his farm, Ravenwood, Pawling, N.Y.; died in Delray Beach, Fla., February 27, 1962; interment in Pawling Cemetery, Pawling, N.Y. It might be some time before another one of these scarce trigates comes to market, especially one in such fine condition.  Once the auction ends, how many years or decades are you willing to wait until you see another one for sale, if ever???  Here is your chance==RIGHT HERE==RIGHT NOW!! PLUS... NO BUYER'S PREMIUM! Button is 3 1/2" and in NM condition.   Please let photos be your guide as to condition.  Questions?  Feel free to ask. I welcome and will consider all best offers before the closing time.  In consideration of the format of this auction, a one-time 'BUY IT NOW' price is your option if you just 'GOTTA HAVE IT' and are not willing to risk another collector outbidding you.  Absent that, your best offer is not a bidding war with anyone; it is intended to be the highest price you are willing to pay.  I will respond as promptly as possible to any offers, understanding I am caregiver for my Mother and she is my 1st priority.  All bids and identities of all bidders will remain in STRICTEST CONFIDENCE.    PLEASE SEE MY OTHER CURRENT LISTINGS FOR GREAT POLITICAL BUTTONS/OTHER ITEMS!!  I WILL BE LISTING STUFF FOR PRESIDENT, HOPEFULS, COATTAILS, LOCALS, CAUSE and even a few NON-POLITICAL items in the coming weeks.  Add me to your 'Favorite Sellers' list---I WILL DO MY BEST TO PLEASE! FREE SHIPPING & DELIVERY CONFIRMATION is included for this item.  Insurance for additional cost at your discretion.  I am not responsible for any damage incurred to collectibles after they leave my hands.  As with all vintage collectibles, they will show various degrees of aging.  Please ask any questions you have before close of auction.  THANKS! PAYMENT MUST BE RECEIVED WITHIN 7 DAYS OF AUCTION CLOSING. GLAD TO ACCEPT PAYPAL, MONEY ORDERS OR A GOOD CHECK. NOT ACCEPTING RETURNS AT THIS TIME.  ALL SALES FINAL. THANKS FOR LOOKING AND HAPPY BROWSING!!   An inspirational poem I thought you might enjoy---   He Leadeth Me   In pastures green? Not always; sometimes He who knoweth best, in kindness leadeth me In many ways where heavy shadows be. Out of the sunshine warm and soft and bright.. Out of the sunshine into the darkest night, I oft would faint with sorrow and affright, Only for this...I know He holds my hand; so whether in the green or desert land I trust although I may not understand.   And by still waters? No, not always so; Ofttimes the heavy tempests round me blow, And o'er my soul the waters and billows go. But when the storms beat loudest and I cry aloud for help, the Master standeth by And whispers to my soul, "Lo, it is I." Above the tempest wild I hear Him say, "Beyond this darkness lies a perfect day. In every path of thine I lead the way."   So whether on the hilltops high and fair I dwell, or in the sunless valleys where The shadows lie...what matters? He is there. So where He leads me, I can safely go, And in the blest hereafter I shall know Why in His wisdom, He hath led me so.   Rev. John Chaplain
