Disgusted by the Piedmontese repression, they refused to obey and were deported in Piedmont. Hearing that Garibaldi was returning to Sicily in 1862, 150 of these Hungarian escaped with a view to reach the General, and even Dunyov moved to Naples to collect weapons. However, the terrible events at the Aspromonte were the end of the Garibaldinian hopes. In 1867, after the agreement between Austria and Hungary, the Colonel renounced returning to his native land and settled in Turin.
