Current Lot Giuseppe Garibaldi (1807-1882) Broad, relevant series of historical documents dating back to the years between 1862 and 1877 and consisting of eight little, of which four signed autograph, and four signed, mainly addressed to Colonel Dunyov Istvan (1816-1889) one of the Hungarian militaries who followed Garibaldi in the 'Spedizione dei Mille', in 1860, and were later hired by the post-unity Italian government to fight against the brigands in 1862. Disgusted by the Piedmontese repression, they refused to obey and were deported in Piedmont. Hearing that Garibaldi was returning to Sicily in 1862, 150 of these Hungarian escaped with a view to reach the General, and even Dunyov moved to Naples to collect weapons. However, the terrible events at the Aspromonte were the end of the Garibaldinian hopes. In 1867, after the agreement between Austria and Hungary, the Colonel renounced returning to his native land and settled in Turin. These papers bear witness to the friendship between the two patriots, who fought for their countries' independence from Austria. A) Catania, 21 August 1862. One page light blue paper, 8vo.
