The sword is Fully functional and specifically made to support the stress of full contact historical combat. The blade has been fully Tempered and oil Hardened. This is a real sword, forged for historical combat use,   Performance videos can be seen below.   The 15th century witnessed some of the most beautiful sword of the Medieval period. Complex architectural paradigms influenced smiths in both armor and sword design. Among the patterns of the early 15th century, a new trend emerged in handles designs, leading way to an increasingly popular ribbed layer handle construction. While some swords were fitted with small latitudinal flanges at the top and bottom, others were crowned with circular rims. One such example is the sword of Johannes von Eglofstein, dating from 1411, from which our model was reproduced.   Click on images below to Enlarge         The following resistance test were performed by "The Sword Buyer's Guide", an independent Australian based company, whose sole purpose is to test combat ready swords from various sword makers in order to allow collectors, as yourself, make appropriate choices when purchasing their weapon. We are proud to say that Darksword Armory swords have been rated as the best swords on the market by "The Sword Buyer's Guide". Destructive resistance videos, created by "The Sword Buyer's Guide", are below. These tests place tremendous tress on the swords in order to test their resistance beyond "normal" combat use.         Please note that the swords, made and sold by Darksword Armory, are real weapons and should be used as such. we do not sell any of our historical weapons to minors.
