Description
UNCANNY X-MEN 96-143Marvel Comics 1975-1980complete run of 48 issues with none missingaverage grade VF/NM (8.5/9.0)1st appearance & Origin of Phoenixcomplete Dark Phoenix Sagacomplete John Byrne runincluding artwork by John Byrne & Dave Cockrum* No Reserve * So here's the best, and the last, of my Uncanny X-Men runs - these comics are gorgeous. There are 48 issues here, and I've graded 26 as Near Mint Minus (9.0/9.2).  Of the 22 remaining issues 14 are in Very Fine/Near Mint (8.5/9.0), and there is only 1 issue below Very Fine (7.5/8.0) - and that's a non-key; issue #96 in Very Fine Minus (7.0/7.5).  I've included scans of the backs of issues 100, 108 &121 so you can see how beautiful these comics are.The entire John Byrne run is included in this auction, and just so you know the average grade of the Byrne run (issues 108-143) is a mind-blowing Near Mint Minus (9.0/9.2)!  Possibly the nicest, non-slabbed set of John Byrne X-Men you'll find anywhere...And particular apologies to bidders outside Canada, but the most I can insure a single package for is $1,000, so these comics have to be shipped in 2 parcels to get full coverage, which pretty much doubles the cost of shipping.  Sorry about that, but I have to be sure I can insure this shipment for its full value.Uncanny X-Men96 - VF/NM (8.5/9.0) - Chris Claremont story, last John Byrne artwork Greetings to all you ebayers out there, and welcome to my annual Winter auction. As the shadows lengthen and the nights grow colder here's a tasty selection of complete runs to warm the cockles of your heart - major titles, key issues, high grade comics - I've been working on this collection for several years now and these are the cream of the crop.As always, I've checked each and every comic, specifically leafing through every page, inspecting the staples as well as both the inside and outside front and back cover.  I'm proud of my grading and want the buyer to be happy with their purchase, and if you have a look at my 100% positive feedback you'll see that so far I've managed to achieve that.I can send high res scans of the front and back cover of each issue if you like.  Just fire me off an e-mail, letting me know which e-mail address you'd like me to send the scans to and which ones you'd like.  However, please bear in mind that the scans are about 4MB in size - you'll need to have enough room in your inbox for at least that amount of space per scan. The scans are of the actual comics that the winning bidder will receive, and the images have not been altered or adjusted in any way.Just a quick word about Canada Post shipping rates...Unfortunately, Canada Post is one of the most expensive postal systems in the world right now.  I try to give an accurate guide to what the actual shipping costs will be in each auction, so please be sure to check the listed shipping rates before deciding to bid.  I'm only charging actual shipping costs, but they can be very expensive, particularly for anything over 12 or so comics via airmail to Europe. Rest assured I do combine shipping costs for multiple auction wins, and will do my absolute best to get the winning bidder the best shipping rates possible. Here's the Overstreet definition of the assigned grades:“Near Mint Minus (9.2) – Nearly perfect with only a minor additional defect or defects that keep it from Near Mint.  A limited number of minor bindery defects are allowed.  Cover is flat with no surface wear.  Inks are bright with only the slightest dimming of reflectivity.  Generally well centred and secured to interior pages.  Corners are cut square and sharp with ever-so-slight blunting permitted.  A 1/16-1/8 inch bend is permitted with no colour break.  No creases.  Small, inconspicuous, lightly penciled, stamped or inked arrival dates are acceptable as long as they are in an unobtrusive location.  No soiling, staining or other discolouration, apart from slight foxing.  Spine is tight and flat.  No spine roll or split allowed.  Staples may show some discolouration.  No staple tears are allowed; almost no stress lines.  No rust migration.  In rare cases a comic was not stapled at the bindery and therefore has a missing staple; this is not considered a defect.  Any staple can be replaced on book up to Fine, but only vintage staples can be used on books from Very Fine to Near Mint.  Mint books must have original staples.  Paper is cream to off-white, supple and fresh.  No hint of acidity in the odour of the newsprint.  Centrefold is secure.  Slight interior tears are allowed.”“Very Fine/Near Mint (9.0) – Nearly perfect with outstanding eye appeal.  A limited number of bindery defects are allowed.  Almost flat cover with almost imperceptible wear.  Inks are bright with slightly diminished reflectivity.  An 1/8 inch bend is allowed if colour is not broken.  Corners are cut square and sharp with ever-so-slight blunting permitted but no creases.  Several lightly penciled, stamped or inked arrival dates are acceptable.  No obvious soiling, staining or other discolouration, except for very minor foxing.  Spine is tight and flat.  No spine roll or split allowed.  Staples may show some discolouration.  Only the slightest staple tears are allowed.  A very minor accumulation of stress lines may be present if they are nearly imperceptible. Paper is cream to off-white and supple.  No hint of acidity in the odour of the newsprint.  Centrefold is secure.  Very minor interior tears may be present.”“Very Fine Plus (8.5) – Fits the criteria for Very Fine but with an additional virtue or small accumulation of virtues that improves the book’s appearance by a perceptible amount.”“Very Fine (8.0) - An excellent copy with outstanding eye appeal.  Sharp, bright and clean with supple pages.  A comic book in this grade has the appearance of having been carefully handled.  A limited accumulation of minor bindery defects is allowed.  Cover is relatively flat with minimal surface wear beginning to show, possibly including some minute wear at corners.  Inks are generally bright with moderate to high reflectivity.  A 1/4 inch crease is acceptable if colour is not broken.  Stamped or inked arrival dates may be present.  No obvious soiling, staining or other discolouration, except for minor foxing.  Spine is almost flat with no roll.  Possible minor colour break allowed.  Staples may show some discolouration.  Very slight staple tears and a few almost very minor to minor stress lines may be present. Paper is tan to cream and supple.  No hint of acidity in the odour of the newsprint.  Centrefold is mostly secure.  Minor interior tears at the margin may be present.”“Very Fine Minus (7.5) – Fits the criteria for Very Fine but with an additional defect or small accumulation of defects that detracts from the book’s appearance by a perceptible amount.”A bit of info about me...I have been buying and selling comics, books and games for over 25 years, and as you’ll see from my feedback everybody who has bought items in the past has been extremely happy.  I am a collector myself and aim to treat buyers the same way I'd like to be treated myself when I'm purchasing items. And don't forget to check out my other auctions...Payment InformationPlease note that I only accept Paypal.  No exceptions. And for this auction if you use the Buy it Now option I'd like to receive payment within 24 hours.Shipping InformationThe comics will be shipped with 2 comics per bag and board, bubble-wrapped, sandwiched between stiff cardboard sheets, in a sturdy cardboard box.  I will ship internationally, but please be aware that shipping for anywhere outside North America is now very expensive for more than 30 comics, so please check before hand if you are located outside North America.Good luck!
